Claim that valuable jewelry from the Louvre Museum has been moved to the Central Bank of France

Following the robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris, the capital of France, which made global headlines, it has been suggested that new security measures have been taken for other valuable jewelry in the museum.

The French press claimed that the valuable artifacts in the Apollo Gallery, where royal jewelry is exhibited, have been moved to the Central Bank of France for safekeeping. The claim, based on unnamed sources, stated that the jewelry was transported under the escort of secret police units. No statement has yet been made by museum officials or the Central Bank of France regarding the matter.

The Central Bank, which keeps France's gold reserves in a large vault 27 meters underground, is located 500 meters from the Louvre Museum.

The robbery occurred on October 19 at the world-famous museum, which hosts thousands of visitors every day and exhibits approximately 35 thousand artifacts. Four unidentified thieves, who used a freight elevator of a truck outside the museum in the morning hours, broke a window and entered the section known as the Apollo Gallery, where royal jewelry is displayed.

The thieves stole 9 pieces of jewelry and dropped a crown belonging to Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, while fleeing. The crown was found outside the museum in a damaged state. The thieves' robbery lasted 7 minutes, and they fled the scene on motorcycles. Following the robbery, the museum was temporarily closed for security reasons. After the investigations were completed, the Louvre was reopened to visitors 3 days later.
