Claims emerge that Dani Alves has committed suicide

It has been claimed that former Brazil national team and Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has committed suicide in prison.

According to a report by Brazilian journalist Paulo Albuquerque, Alves, who was sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison for sexual assault and has been incarcerated for approximately 1 year, has passed away.

No statement has yet been made by official institutions regarding the claim in question.

SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

40-year-old Dani Alves was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman he met at a nightclub and was sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison.

Denying the accusation, Alves had said, "My conscience is truly clear regarding what happened that night in the bathroom of the VIP area of the Sutton nightclub."

The following statements were included in the verdict text of the court in Spain:

“It has been proven that the defendant (Dani Alves) suddenly grabbed the complainant, threw her to the ground, prevented her from moving, and engaged in sexual intercourse despite the complainant saying 'no' and wanting to leave. It has been determined that he did this through the use of violence and without consent. The victim resisted the sexual intercourse with all her might but could not prevent it. There are injuries that clearly demonstrate the presence of violence used to break the victim's will. The defendant did not deny the sexual intercourse either. No evidence could be found that the victim had consented.”
