Claims that Germany is ready to sell Eurofighters to Turkey
It has been claimed that Germany is ready to sell Eurofighter fighter jets to Turkey, and that German Foreign Policy Spokesperson Johann Wadephul will visit Turkey on Friday to discuss the sale.
It has been claimed that Turkey and Germany will discuss the purchase of Eurofighter fighter jets. Reports citing a spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry stated that Germany has expressed its readiness to negotiate the sale of Eurofighters to Turkey.
The reports, which quote the spokesperson as saying, "The German government has responded positively to Airbus's request to negotiate the sale of Eurofighters to Turkey.
These aircraft are used for collective defense within the NATO framework," also suggested that German Foreign Policy Spokesperson Johann Wadephul will visit Turkey on Friday to discuss the sale.
GERMANY HAD APPROVED THE PRELIMINARY REQUEST
German Government Spokesperson Stefan Kornelius, in a statement last July, addressed reports by Der Spiegel magazine that the Federal Security Council had approved Turkey's preliminary request for 40 Eurofighter fighter jets, stating, "I can confirm that the German government has responded positively to a preliminary request from the industry."
