It has been alleged that Israel conducted airstrikes on Syria's Latakia province.
Social media accounts close to the Syrian regime claimed that Israeli aircraft carried out multiple airstrikes in the Jableh district of Latakia from the Mediterranean side around 04:00.
Powerful explosions occurred as a result of the strikes, and it was noted that the Bashar al-Assad regime's air defense systems attempted to respond.
It was stated that a fire broke out at the site of the attack and that explosions were continuing.
No statement regarding the attack has been made yet by Israeli authorities or the Syrian regime.
Iran-backed groups also have a presence in the Jableh district of Latakia, where Russia's Hmeimim airbase is located.
Since the civil war began in 2011, Israel has periodically carried out strikes in Syria against Iran-backed groups and military positions belonging to the Syrian army.
