Coca-Cola recalls many of its beverages in Europe
Coca-Cola has recalled beverages sold in some European countries after high levels of chlorate were detected.
The Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC) has announced that Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Belgium has decided to recall various products due to excessive chlorate levels.
The statement indicated that the recall includes canned and bottled beverages from the Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Fuse Tea, Nalu, Minute Maid, Tropico, and Royal Bliss brands with production codes between 328 GE and 338 GE, as well as various types of these products.
The statement warned consumers not to consume the products in question and shared information that the products could be returned to points of sale.
According to the Belgian press, the Coca-Cola products being recalled have been produced at the facility in Ghent, Belgium, since November.
The products were also shipped outside of Belgium to the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, France, and Luxembourg.
Chlorate occurs as a result of the use of chlorine-based disinfectants in water treatment and food processing.
