Company that produced the pagers that exploded in Lebanon issues statement: What is the cause of the explosions?
The company that produced the pagers that detonated in Lebanon announced that they did not manufacture them and were merely an intermediary firm.
Taiwan-based Gold Apollo has announced that it did not manufacture the pagers that were detonated while being carried by numerous Hezbollah members in Lebanon, pointing instead to a firm named 'BAC' to which they had granted a brand license.
In a written statement issued by Gold Apollo, it was stated that they had no authorization in the production of the 'AR924' model pagers.
The company's statement included the words, 'We only provide brand authorization and have no involvement in the design or production of this product.'
Gold Apollo stated that the production of these devices belonged solely to the company named 'BAC', to which they had granted the authority to use their brand license.
DEVICES ARE PRODUCED IN HUNGARY, NOT TAIWAN
According to reports in the Taiwanese press, Gold Apollo executive Hsu Ching Kuang explained at a press conference that these devices were not produced in Taiwan, but abroad.
Hsu reported that the detonated devices were produced by a company called 'BAC Consulting Ltd' located in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, and that they had signed an authorization agreement with this firm 3 years ago.
In images circulated by Lebanese social media users following the explosions, the brand and model of the damaged pagers were seen to be 'Gold Apollo Rugged Pager AR924'.
