Conditional ceasefire statement from Ukraine: If Russia is ready...
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that if Russia is prepared for a 60 or 90-day temporary ceasefire, they would also be ready for it.
In a written statement, Sybiha shared his assessments regarding the importance of a temporary ceasefire aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine War.
Reminding that Russia had declared a temporary ceasefire between May 8-11 during the 80th anniversary of the World War II victory, Sybiha noted the following:
"As Ukraine, we reiterate once again that we are ready for peace negotiations in any format the moment we see that Russia is truly ready for a difficult path to peace, rather than just a short-term propaganda ceasefire for the sake of 'peaceful populism' or a May 9 parade."
Arguing that Russia could demonstrate its willingness to participate in peace negotiations by accepting a ceasefire of at least 30 days, Sybiha stated, "If Russia is ready for a 60-90 day ceasefire, we are ready too."
In his message, Sybiha added, "When the fire ceases, negotiations can begin in any format that will bring peace."
