Consecutive armed attacks in Montenegro: 10 dead, 1 injured

Cetinje, the former capital of Montenegro, has been shaken by an armed attack.

A statement from the police indicated that 10 people lost their lives and 1 person was injured.

Montenegrin media reported that a fight broke out at an entertainment venue, and a 45-year-old suspect named "Aco Martinovic" went home to retrieve a handgun, returned to the venue and killed 4 people, and subsequently went to the venue owner's home, where he killed 1 woman and 2 children.

3-DAY MOURNING DECLARED

Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic had announced that 4 people who were seriously injured in the attack were taken under treatment and underwent surgery. Spajic announced that a 3-day period of mourning will be declared starting tomorrow due to the tragic event.

ATTACKER AT LARGE

Cetinje police stated that search efforts for the attacker are ongoing, calling on the public to remain calm and not to leave their homes.

It was emphasized that the police are taking the necessary steps to bring the situation under control and bring the perpetrator to justice.

The statement said, “We would like to inform the public that this incident is not the result of a settling of scores between high-risk organized crime groups. Special police units have been deployed to the field to resolve the crisis situation.”
