Corruption case concluded. Former prime minister acquitted
In Pakistan, a court has acquitted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a corruption case in which he was being tried without arrest regarding the purchase of 4 luxury apartments in London, the capital of the United Kingdom.
According to reports in the national press, the hearing for the case in which Sharif was being tried was held at the Islamabad High Court.
The court panel ruled to acquit former Prime Minister Sharif in the corruption case in which he was being tried without arrest regarding the purchase of 4 luxury apartments in London.
Within the scope of the case known to the public as Avenfield, Sharif and his family were accused of purchasing luxury apartments in London with money obtained through corruption.
In the case that concluded in July 2018, Sharif was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was released 2 months later to be retried on the grounds that he did not receive a fair trial and that the evidence was insufficient.
Sharif had appealed the court decisions against him.
