Critical contact in eastern Syria ends without result: Military operation imminent
The failure to reach an agreement in the latest talks between Syrian Interim President Ahmed El Şaraa and YPG/SDF leader Mazlum Abdi has paved the way for a large-scale military intervention in the region. With no deal reached, the parties have taken up arms again, increasing expectations of an operation.
Hot developments in eastern Syria have turned attention to the east of the Euphrates River. The latest contacts between the Syrian administration and the YPG/SDF, which have been struggling for dominance in the region for a long time, did not bring the expected solution.
OFFER OF CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF POSITION TO MAZLUM ABDİ
In the most recent negotiations between the two sides, Syrian Interim President Ahmed El Şaraa presented a series of significant offers to Mazlum Abdi. These included critical proposals such as the position of deputy chief of general staff and the right to hold elections for the governorship of Hasakah.
REQUESTED 5 DAYS
However, YPG terrorist organization leader Mazlum Abdi, who participated in the talks, asked for 5 days to consider the proposals instead of responding immediately. This request was not accepted by Şaraa, and the negotiations stalled completely. As no results emerged from the final consultations between the parties, Abdi left the talks and returned to Hasakah.
Shortly after the talks were broken off, the sounds of conflict began to rise again in the rural areas of Hasakah. According to security sources in the region, the SDF's refusal to reach an agreement with the Syrian central administration and its return to armed struggle have put the organization's future at risk.
OPERATION CLAIMS
The YPG/SDF's stance, which is far from dialogue, has strengthened expectations that the Syrian army is preparing for a final and comprehensive military operation in the region. Observers point out that an intensification of military activity in the east of the Euphrates has become inevitable in the coming days.
