Critical election results announced in Iraq
The results of the elections held in the country yesterday were announced at a press conference by Judge Omar Ahmed Mohammed, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq, and members of the commission.
In the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, led by Prime Minister Sudani, came in first, while former Parliament Speaker Mohammed Halbusi's Taqaddum Party came in second, and the State of Law Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, came in third.
The National State Forces Alliance, affiliated with Shiite political and religious leader Ammar al-Hakim, secured fourth place, and the Sadiqoun list, affiliated with the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq movement, took fifth place.
