Critical summit in Istanbul! The Islamic world puts Israel-Iran tensions on the table

At the summit, which will take place in the shadow of the Israel-Iran conflict, critical regional developments, primarily the Palestinian issue, will be discussed under Turkey's term presidency.

Critical summit in Istanbul! The Islamic world puts Israel-Iran tensions on the table

The 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, "Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World" will be held in Istanbul under the theme of. More than 40 Foreign Ministers are expected to arrive in Istanbul to attend the meeting, which will take place during a critical period brought about by the conflict between Iran and Israel.

At the summit, which features a record number of high-level participants compared to previous meetings, around a thousand participants from OIC-affiliated institutions, observer countries, and other international organizations, in addition to the 57 OIC member states, are expected to be present.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES EXPECTED FROM ERDOĞAN

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will take over the chairmanship of the meeting from the Foreign Minister of Cameroon, the previous CFM Term President, and deliver the opening speech. President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also expected to attend the meeting and deliver a speech.

Turkey will take over the Council Term Presidency for one year at the 51st CFM meeting. Turkey previously hosted CFM meetings held in 1976, 1991, and 2004.

ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON IRAN TO BE ADDRESSED IN A SPECIAL SESSION

Within the scope of the meeting, a special session will also be organized to address Israel's airstrikes against Iran. In this critical session, the following will be discussed:

The latest situation resulting from Israel's ongoing massacres in Gaza

Efforts for the reconstruction of humanitarian and physical infrastructure

Steps toward the implementation of a two-state solution

The effects of Israel's attacks on Iran on global/regional security and stability

Issues regarding increasing cooperation in the face of challenges affecting Muslim societies.

CRITICAL MESSAGES FROM MINISTER FİDAN

The topics that will stand out in Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's addresses during the meeting will be as follows:

Turkey's Vision for the Term Presidency: It will be stated that throughout Turkey's term presidency, the challenges facing the Islamic world, primarily the Palestinian issue, will continue to be pursued as priority agenda items.

Israel's Expansionist Attacks: It will be emphasized that Israel's destructive attacks in the region are spreading and that Israel has attacked Iran following Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. It will be noted that Turkey will continue to support every step taken to prevent further escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel.
