Czech President Pavel makes 'realistic' statement regarding Ukraine

Czech President Petr Pavel has made statements regarding the Ukraine-Russia war.

Emphasizing that Ukraine needs weapons to be successful on the battlefield and that the West is "overly cautious" regarding arms supplies, Pavel said, "We have to be realistic.

It would be naive to say that Ukraine can regain its occupied territories in the foreseeable future. Russia is not just going to leave the territories it has occupied.

We need to stop the war and start discussing future arrangements. A certain compromise might be possible. However, this is not possible without the consent of Ukraine, Russia, and the countries that will be the guarantors of this agreement," he said.

"NO ONE IN EUROPE WANTS SUCH A CONFLICT"

Pavel stated, "Ukrainians are losing their lives and their homeland. They could also lose the war," and emphasized that NATO cannot deploy troops to Ukrainian territory, as previously suggested by French President Emmanuel Macron. Pavel said, "This would be the beginning of a conflict between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance. No one in Europe wants such a conflict," he said.

Slovakia's President-elect Peter Pellegrini also called for a ceasefire in Ukraine and the start of peace negotiations in a statement he made last week.

Chinese President Xi Jinping also called for all conflicts in the world to be halted during the 2024 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Paris, the capital of France, during his European tour last week.
