Danes take to the streets against the US: 'Greenland is not for sale'
A crowd gathered in Copenhagen to criticize the US administration's demands regarding Greenland. Demonstrators held a protest in front of the US Embassy in Copenhagen following statements made by US Vice President JD Vance about the island.
Danish and Greenlandic activists carried signs reading 'Greenland is not for sale' and 'US give it up.' The protesters demanded that the Washington administration respect the island's sovereignty.
US President Donald Trump has frequently brought up the idea that Greenland should be brought under US control in recent times. In a post on Truth Social last year, Trump described the island coming under US administration as a 'national security necessity.'
Former Danish Foreign Minister Mogens Lykketoft emphasized that they would do everything in their power not to give Greenland to the US, stating the following:
''We must defend our case at the UN, where an overwhelming majority of countries would condemn US aggression toward Greenland, and we must directly seek the support of the 70 percent of Americans who oppose the idea of conquering Greenland. We must never give up.''

Trump, who also brought up this issue in his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, stated the following:
'We are talking to Denmark, this deal needs to be made.'
The Greenlandic government announced that the island is not for sale and that they will not relinquish their sovereign rights. Danish officials also maintain their stance that the status of Greenland will not change.
