Death toll continues to rise in Los Angeles wildfires

As the wildfires that began 6 days ago in Los Angeles, California, in the United States continue, the toll of the disaster continues to worsen.

According to a statement from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office, the death toll has risen to 24, with 8 people having lost their lives in the Palisades Fire and 16 in the Eaton Fire.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna announced that 16 people have been recorded as missing, with 4 in the Palisades Fire area and 12 in the Eaton Fire area.

Stating that the Palisades Fire is 11 percent contained and the Eaton Fire is 27 percent contained, officials noted that 105 thousand people remain under evacuation orders.

While it was stated that other smaller-scale fires in the region are also continuing, it was reported that extinguishing efforts are ongoing with the participation of over 14 thousand personnel, 1 thousand 400 fire vehicles, and 84 aircraft from California and other states.
