Death toll from earthquakes in Venezuela rises to 3,342

The toll from the earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 continues to rise.

The Venezuelan Ministry of Communication and Information announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the disaster has reached 3,342, and the number of injured has reached 16,740. The ministry's statement noted that 6,462 people have been rescued so far, and that the earthquakes affected 856 buildings, with 190 buildings collapsing.

While it was reported that aid has been provided to 86,794 families and 17,345 people remain homeless, it was stated that 4,088 international rescue workers, 29,567 local personnel, and 27,482 volunteers have been deployed in the regions affected by the earthquake.

It was noted that 23,820 earthquake victims have received medical treatment to date. Additionally, it was announced that 995 aftershocks have occurred since the earthquakes on June 24.

EARTHQUAKES IN VENEZUELA CAUSED DEVASTATION

Venezuela was shaken on June 24 by earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, which occurred 39 seconds apart, causing serious damage in different parts of the country. In a previous statement from the Venezuelan Ministry of Communication and Information, the death toll had been reported as 2,954, with 16,592 people injured.
