According to reports in the Mexican press, the death toll is rising due to record temperatures, particularly in the states of Veracruz, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, and San Luis Potosi.

Across the country, 90 people have died from extreme heat since the beginning of 2024.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, 29 people died due to extreme heat between May 29 and June 5 alone.

It was reported that approximately 2,000 people have sought medical attention at hospitals due to heatstroke.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) announced that a new heat wave would affect the entire country and advised individuals with chronic illnesses not to go outside during certain hours unless necessary.

In a statement from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), it was noted that the highest temperatures in the country's history were recorded during the last 15 days of May.

It is stated that temperatures have exceeded 40 degrees in 14 states in Mexico.
