Brazil's flood disaster death toll has risen to 150.

In the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the south of the country, the loss of life and property continues to increase due to floods caused by rains that have been effective for two weeks.

In a statement made by the state's Civil Defense, it was stated that the number of deaths was updated to 150 and the number of missing persons to 112.

The statement noted that the number of injured has risen to 807, the number of people affected by the floods has exceeded 2 million 120 thousand, and the number of displaced persons has surpassed 620 thousand.

The statement conveyed that 80 thousand people have been rescued from the disaster zone and search and rescue efforts are continuing.

On the other hand, information was shared that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who visited the disaster zone for the 3rd time, will announce new aid packages.

It was reported that in a vote held in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, the decision to postpone the debt of the Rio Grande do Sul state to the Treasury for 3 years was accepted unanimously.

DISASTER STATE HAD BEEN DECLARED

Rio Grande do Sul Governor Eduardo Leite had stated in his announcement on May 3, "We are going through an extremely exceptional situation. This is not a critical event; it is the most devastating event in the state's history."

Leite had said that due to the magnitude of the tragedy, they had declared a "state of disaster" for 180 days and were making serious efforts for the evacuation of people.
