Death toll from floods in Europe rises to 20: The toll is getting heavier

In Hungary and Poland, soldiers have been deployed to reinforce river embankments with sandbags. Many historical structures in both countries have been temporarily closed.

In Poland, the government has declared a 'state of natural disaster' in the southern regions most affected by the floods.

In Hungary, Poland, and Czechia, citizens have also voluntarily participated in flood relief efforts, and thousands of people have been evacuated.

Meanwhile, statements have come from the European countries affected by the floods indicating that the situation is worse than expected.

Photos in the media showed people being evacuated with the help of boats and many cities being submerged under water.

The heavy rainfall in Europe is also expected to affect Italy. Concerns have been raised that the rains could cause flooding within a week in the Western Balkan countries of Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia.
