Death toll from Israeli attacks in Lebanon rises to 1,540: Thousands of Lebanese flee the country

Since October 8, information has been provided regarding those who have died in Israeli attacks and those displaced by the strikes. According to a report by the Disaster Risk Management Unit affiliated with the Lebanese government, 1,540 people have lost their lives in Israeli attacks so far.

The report stated that the number of registered displaced persons placed in shelters has reached 77,100, and that there are 565 shelters consisting of public schools, vocational institutes, and agricultural centers in various cities.

It was noted that most of those displaced by the attacks have settled in their homes in other regions, with relatives, or in rented houses and hotels, while thousands of people have crossed into Syria.

It was reported that 15,600 Syrians and 16,130 Lebanese were determined to have crossed into Syria within the last 2 days.

In the report, which also provided information on casualties, it was stated that since October 8, 2023, Israel has carried out 7,034 airstrikes, 248 phosphorus bomb attacks, and 133 armed attacks on Lebanon, resulting in 1,540 deaths and 5,410 injuries.

Mutual clashes had been taking place between the Israeli army and Hezbollah in Lebanon since October 8, 2023. The Israeli army, which had been continuing controlled clashes, has carried out hundreds of airstrikes on the Bekaa and Baalbek regions as well as southern Lebanese cities since September 23.

According to Lebanese authorities, 679 people have died in the intensified airstrikes, and nearly 150,000 people have been displaced within the country due to the bombardment.

Hezbollah is responding with missiles to the intense bombardment by the Israeli army targeting the southern and eastern regions of the country. No major damage has been reported so far in these attacks, which mostly target army bases on the Israeli side.
