Death toll from Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam rises: 21 dead

According to the Vietnam News website, a statement was issued by the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control regarding the situation.

The statement reported that the number of people who lost their lives in disasters and accidents caused by Typhoon Yagi has risen to 21.

Stating that 229 people were injured due to the disaster, the statement also shared information that 8,017 houses were damaged by the typhoon.

The statement noted that approximately 110,000 hectares of rice fields were flooded.

It was conveyed that the focus is on the food and shelter needs of residents in the region affected by the typhoon, and that the evacuation process for those living in high-risk areas for flash floods and landslides is ongoing.

MORE THAN 50 THOUSAND PEOPLE EVACUATED

The Vietnamese government had deployed thousands of military personnel to conduct relief and rescue operations in the regions where the typhoon was effective.

More than 50,000 people had been evacuated from coastal cities in the north of the country due to Typhoon Yagi.

Due to the heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides caused by Yagi, which hit the northern regions of the Philippines on September 3, 20 people lost their lives and 26 people went missing.

It was reported that the typhoon, which hit China's Hainan province on September 7, caused the deaths of 4 people and left 95 others injured.
