Death toll rises in Hurricane Milton, which struck the US; fatalities reach 16

The Hurricane Milton disaster continues in the United States. As the toll grows heavier by the day, the storm made landfall on the western coast of Florida as a Category 3 hurricane. At least 16 people have lost their lives in the disaster so far.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced that Hurricane Milton made landfall in Siesta Key, Florida, as a Category 3 storm.

Wind speeds were reported at 205 kilometers per hour. Approximately two and a half hours later, wind speeds dropped to 165 kilometers per hour, and the hurricane was downgraded to Category 2.

However, numerous tornadoes occurred across the state due to Milton. At least 125 homes sustained serious damage. Nearly 1.5 million homes and businesses were left without electricity, and at least 16 people have lost their lives.

In Hillsborough County, a 14-year-old child became trapped among debris in the water during the rainfall caused by the hurricane. Police officers rushed to the child's aid. The child, who was alone and partially submerged on the wreckage, was rescued by boat.
U.S. Coast Guard teams rescued a man who was stranded off the coast of Florida and waiting for help while clinging to a cooler.

Authorities reported that rescue efforts are ongoing.
