The number of people who have lost their lives in floods and landslides caused by heavy rains that have been affecting Vietnam since last weekend has risen to 55, while 13 people remain missing.

Death toll rises in Vietnam floods

The toll from floods and landslides hitting the central part of the Asian nation of Vietnam is becoming heavier. In a statement issued by the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority, it was stated that the number of people who lost their lives in the disaster has risen to 55, and 13 people are missing.

Of the deaths, 27 were recorded in the Dak Lak region and 14 in the Khanh Hoa region. Furthermore, more than 28 thousand 400 homes and over 80 thousand hectares of agricultural land were submerged, while 946 homes were damaged.

It was stated that the economic loss is approximately 9 trillion dong (341 million dollars).
