Decision to lift visa requirements with 79 countries

In its newly published visa and immigration regulations, the government has introduced visa-free travel for 79 countries, including Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and France. The countries granted visa-free access also include Malawi's neighbors and other African nations such as The Gambia and Sierra Leone.

Malawi's Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, stated that with this decision, which aims to support tourism and trade, Malawi is sending a message that it is a country open to business and investment opportunities from all over the world.

In recent years, countries on the continent such as Seychelles, The Gambia, Benin, Rwanda, and Kenya have also decided to lift visa requirements for Africans or for all countries.
