Depression alarm in Tehran

A study conducted in Iran has revealed that 99.7 percent of people in the capital, Tehran, are "depressive" due to the "low quality of life."

The study emphasized that factors such as the chaotic state of the city, the insufficiency of entertainment venues, the inadequacy of parks and gardens, irregular trash containers, and sidewalks being occupied by vehicles increase depression rates. 99.7 percent of those living in the city feel depressive, and only a 0.3 percent segment feels energetic.

The study stated that the regions with the lowest quality of life are located in the south of the city, while regions with a medium level of quality of life were recorded in the north. It was noted that significant issues such as air pollution and traffic were not taken into consideration in the study.

"NO INVESTMENT IS BEING MADE TO IMPROVE IT"

Iranian urban sociology expert Hossein Imani Jajarmi emphasized that sufficient infrastructure work is not being carried out to improve the quality of life in Tehran, stating, "Investments to improve living spaces are not being made."

Imani Jajarmi stated that the limited social space in the city reduces the desire for marriage and having children.
