Details of the letter Jeffrey Epstein wrote before his death have emerged: 'What do you want me to do...'

A farewell note, allegedly written weeks before his death by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein—who was on trial in the United States for running a criminal network involving underage girls and was found dead in prison in 2019—has been released to the public by a court order. While the document states that no tangible evidence could be found despite long-running investigations, it includes the phrases, "What do you want me to do, cry and whine? It is a great blessing to be able to choose the time you say goodbye."

According to reports in the U.S. media, there has been no confirmation yet as to whether the letter was actually written by Epstein. According to court records, the document was announced to the public for the first time following the approval of a federal judge.

Epstein's cellmate in prison, Nicholas Tartaglione, told the New York Times that he found this note after the first suicide attempt that occurred weeks before the billionaire took his own life in prison. The note in question had been submitted as additional evidence in Tartaglione's own case; it was then sealed by the court and made inaccessible to the public. Tartaglione had initiated efforts to have the document unsealed, arguing that the note pointed to suicide due to the "time to say goodbye" written at the beginning of the note.

During the 2019 investigations, Epstein was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan on charges of sexual abuse of numerous girls under the age of 18 and creating a sex trafficking ring. On August 10, 2019, he was found dead in his prison cell.
