Did the X platform intentionally bypass the access ban in Brazil? The social media ban had been violated

Officials from the X social media platform, owned by US businessman Elon Musk, stated that the ban in Brazil was bypassed 'by mistake' and that they are continuing their discussions with authorities to lift the ban.

In a statement from X, the phrase 'We changed the way we access servers to provide the best service to our users' was used.

The statement, which noted that the partial violation of the ban was 'unintentional', reported that some users in Brazil gained 'temporary' access to X due to the change.

The information that 'We are continuing our work with the Brazilian government to return' was shared in the statement.

It had been reported that the X social media platform partially bypassed the ban imposed on it in Brazil as a result of changing the way it accesses servers.

Following this development, some X users in Brazil had regained access to the social media platform.

ACCESS TO THE X PLATFORM WAS BANNED IN BRAZIL

In Brazil, the Supreme Court had requested that X provide data on certain individuals and block certain accounts as part of an investigation into a 'coup attempt' conducted against former President Jair Bolsonaro. After the request was rejected, the court gave X 24 hours to appoint a legal representative in the country.

After the company failed to appoint a legal representative in Brazil within the allotted time, the Brazilian Supreme Court announced on August 31 that an access ban had been imposed on X 'until a representative is appointed and the fines imposed are paid'.

Elon Musk also reacted to the decision in a post on X, saying, 'Free speech is the bedrock of democracy and an unelected pseudo-judge in Brazil is destroying it for political purposes.'
