US President Trump has dismissed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown in a sudden move, nominating retired Air Force Lieutenant General Dan Caine as his successor.
US President Donald Trump has dismissed US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown.
In a statement on his Truth Social account, Trump thanked Brown for his service.
In his post, Trump stated, "I thank General Brown for his more than 40 years of service to our country, including his current role as our Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a gentleman and a distinguished leader; I wish him and his family a good future."
Announcing that he has nominated retired Air Force Lieutenant General Dan "Razin" Caine for the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff position, Trump highlighted Caine's successes, particularly in the fight against ISIS.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also thanked Brown in a statement, while announcing that Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti and Air Force Vice Chief of Staff General Jim Slife have also been dismissed.
Brown had gone down in history as the second Black American to serve as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Caine most recently served as the Associate Director of Military Affairs at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
