Donald Trump issues threat
Former President Donald Trump has claimed that if the charges against him are not dropped, there will be 'chaos' in the US, and that all current and future former presidents could also face prosecution.
Former President Donald Trump has warned that there will be 'chaos' if his criminal cases prevent him from participating in the presidential election.
Arguing in the case against him that "as a president, he should have immunity," Trump said, "This is opening a Pandora's box, and it is a very, very sad thing that is happening regarding this whole situation."
Trump claimed that if the charges against him are not dropped, all current and future former presidents could also be prosecuted. Donald Trump says he will file a lawsuit against President Joe Biden if he wins the election in November.
"Obama and Bush could also be prosecuted"
Stating that former President Barack Obama could also be prosecuted, Trump cited as an example "the killing of a US citizen identified as a leader of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda and his 16-year-old son" in attacks carried out by the Obama administration in the Middle East.
Trump's lawyer argued that former President George W. Bush could be prosecuted for providing false information that started the Iraq War.
Legal experts warn that allowing the charges to proceed would lead to endless prosecutions of former presidents.
Trump, who was present in court, warned that if the prosecution continues, "there will be chaos in the country."
