Donald Trump wins Alaska, increases delegate count

Republican candidate Donald Trump won the presidential election held in the US on November 5.

The results for the states of Alaska and Maine, where vote counting has concluded, have been finalized.

Trump, who had already secured the presidency by surpassing 270 delegates, won Alaska and added its 3 delegates to reach a total of 295.

Meanwhile, Harris added 2 more delegates to her tally following the completion of the vote count in Maine, reaching a total of 226 delegates.

Since the election results and the winner are already determined, the remaining results from Nevada and Arizona hold little more than symbolic value. The results in these two states are also expected to be finalized shortly.

VOTE COUNT CONTINUES IN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ELECTIONS

On the other hand, Republicans, who secured a majority in the upper chamber of Congress by reaching 52 seats in the Senate, have reached 205 seats so far in the ongoing vote count for the House of Representatives.

Conversely, it is considered highly unlikely that the Democrats, trailing with 190 seats, will secure a majority in the House of Representatives.

In the presidential election held in the US on November 5, Republican Trump had earned the right to become the country's 47th president by surpassing 270 delegates.

Kamala Harris announced in a speech yesterday that she accepted the election defeat and stated that she had called and congratulated Trump.

Similarly, US President Joe Biden also called Trump to congratulate him on his election success and invited him to the White House.

Trump will officially take office by taking the oath of office on January 20, 2025.
