Drone attack from Ukraine to Russia: Oil refineries hit

12PUNTO FOREIGN NEWS

As Kyiv intensifies its cross-border attacks shortly before the presidential elections to be held in Russia, Ukraine has carried out drone attacks on at least three oil refineries deep inside Russia.

The oil refinery in the city of Ryazan, located approximately 210 kilometers southeast of Moscow, was hit. Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region, located about 300 miles east of the capital, was also targeted. Drone attacks also took place in Kirishi in northwestern Russia.

According to a report by CNN citing an unnamed Ukrainian defense source, Ukraine is implementing a 'well-planned strategy to reduce Russia's economic potential.' According to the report, another representative from the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence also provided information in a statement on Wednesday that a fourth facility (the Novoshakhtinsky oil refinery in Rostov-on-Don) had been hit.

The source speaking to CNN said, "Our goal is to deprive our enemy of resources and reduce the flow of oil money and fuel that Russia uses directly in the war."

The regions where the attacks took place are located in the interior of Russia.

Ukraine's drone attacks came after Russian volunteer units fighting for the Ukrainian army claimed to have captured a village inside Russia.
