'Ebola outbreak' warning
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus issued a warning regarding the Ebola outbreak that has begun in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during the WHO's weekly press conference.
Ghebreyesus announced that 13 Ebola cases have been confirmed so far in the outbreak that emerged in the country's northeastern Ituri province.
The new Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was also on the agenda at the meeting.
Reminding that the DRC has experienced 17 Ebola outbreaks since 1976, Ghebreyesus stated that epidemic diseases pose a constant threat to human health.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation and solidarity to strengthen global health security.
