Egypt rejects proposal to deport Gazans: Hamas calls it a 'noble stance'

Egypt has stated that it rejects the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, expressing that regional stability would be jeopardized. In a statement regarding the matter, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to implement a two-state solution 'in practice'.

The statement emphasized that the deportation of Palestinians from their lands, forcing them to leave, or encouraging them to abandon their homes—whether temporarily or long-term—is unacceptable, warning that this threatens regional stability and the prospects for peace.

In its statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, 'Egypt continues to support the Palestinian people's steadfastness on their own land, their legitimate rights, and their commitment to the principles of international law and international humanitarian law.'

The statement reminded the international community that a two-state solution, which would ensure the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, could be implemented in practice.

TRUMP'S 'DEPORTATION' PUSH

The US President had proposed the idea of deporting Palestinians in Gaza to Arab countries, primarily Jordan and Egypt.

Trump had called for these countries to accept more Palestinians 'to clear' Gaza and for these individuals to be 'placed in housing to be built in different locations,' stating that this could be 'temporary' or 'long-term.'

Noting that he had discussed this issue over the phone with King Abdullah II of Jordan and that he would also speak with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Trump stated:

'I would prefer to get together with Arab countries and build housing in another place where (Palestinians) can live in peace.'

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also emphasized his country's determination to support the Palestinians' right to remain on their land, stating that he rejects any attempt aimed at the displacement of Palestinians.

A statement came from Hamas regarding the stance of Egypt and Jordan. Appreciating the rejection of Trump's call to expel Palestinians from their lands, Hamas described it as a 'noble stance.'

The written statement said the following:

'We appreciate the noble stance of Egypt and Jordan, which reject the displacement of our Palestinian people, their transfer from their lands, or their uprooting under any pretext or justification.'
