Egyptian Foreign Minister makes statement on Israel: 'Take action'

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell met within the scope of the World Economic Forum held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. 

RAFAH DISCUSSED

In a statement made by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the results of their meetings with international and regional parties to end the war in Gaza were evaluated. They stated their opposition to Israel launching a ground offensive on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, Borrell received information about the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange.

Minister Shoukry drew attention to the importance of the European Union and international actors taking action to pressure Israel to prevent a ground offensive on Rafah and to stop any attempt to implement the scenario of forcibly displacing the residents of the Gaza Strip.
