Egyptian President Sisi makes statement regarding Trump's 'Gaza plan'
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has made a statement regarding US President Donald Trump's Gaza plan.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated, "The reconstruction of the Gaza Strip must begin immediately without displacing the Palestinian people."
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan held a phone conversation.
In a written statement issued by the Egyptian Presidency regarding the call, it was noted that there is "full consensus" between Egyptian President el-Sisi and King Abdullah of Jordan on policies concerning Gaza, and that the parties maintain a joint stance on the full implementation of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and detainees, and the increase of humanitarian aid.
The statement said, "The two leaders also emphasized that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip must begin immediately without displacing the Palestinian people, and that the practices carried out by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the West Bank must be stopped."
The statement, which noted that the two leaders are ready to work in close cooperation with US President Trump to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East, added, "The two leaders also discussed ways to increase coordination and consultation among Arab countries and preparations for the emergency Arab summit planned to be held in Egypt on February 27."
