An Arab member of parliament elected from the Iraqi city of Kirkuk, who was named "Saddam Hussein," has changed his name to "Muhammad Ali."
In the city of Kirkuk, "Saddam Hussein al-Nuaimi," who won the election representing the Azim Alliance, issued a written statement regarding the matter.
He changed his name to "Muhammad Ali HHussein al-Nuaimi," heannounced that he hadchanged his name, stating that he made the change to "follow the example of Prophet Muhammad and to take pride in İmam Ali."
The name of Nuaimi, who won the Iraqi parliamentaryelections, was previously on Iraq'sBecause his name was identical to that of thedeposed leader Saddam Hussein,it had sparked debates on social mediaplatforms.
