Electronic cigarette use will be banned starting from that date

Belgian Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke told reporters that cheap electronic cigarettes have become a "health threat" because they are an easy way to encourage young people to smoke and make them nicotine-dependent.

Pointing out that the plastic and batteries in cigarettes designed for single use also harm the environment, Vandenbroucke noted that they create dangerous chemical waste.

Vandenbroucke stated, "Electronic cigarettes usually contain nicotine, and this leads to nicotine addiction. Nicotine is bad for your health, these are the facts."

Following the ban on the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes, also known as "vapes," on January 1, Belgium will be the first country among European Union (EU) nations to take this step.
