EU to train 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers: They pledged 'military aid'

European Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis announced that the total amount of aid provided to Ukraine by the EU and its member states has reached 118 billion euros, and that support will continue in the new period. Dombrovskis also stated that the EU aims to train another 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers by the end of the winter.

Stating that 43.5 billion of this consists of military aid, Dombrovskis noted that the number of Ukrainian soldiers trained by the EU on its own territory will rise to 75,000.

Support for Ukraine was discussed at the European Parliament General Assembly, which began its 2024-2029 legislative term following the elections held on June 6-9.

In his speech at the session, Dombrovskis said, 'Ukraine continues to need urgent military aid to defend itself.'

Emphasizing that the EU will continue to support the country militarily and financially, Dombrovskis stated, 'Unfortunately, this winter will not be easy for them because Russia is attacking energy resources and infrastructure.'
