European Parliament bans Amazon representatives

EP Committee on Employment and Social Affairs Chair Dragoș Pîslaru announced that the EP Quaestors have revoked the parliamentary access badges issued to 14 Amazon representatives, meaning these individuals will no longer have access to the EP premises.

Pointing out that ensuring fair working conditions in Europe is among their duties, Pîslaru stated that they cannot remain indifferent when concerns are raised regarding the working conditions of Amazon employees in European Union (EU) countries.

AMAZON DID NOT ATTEND SESSIONS

Recalling that they had placed the issue on the EP committee's agenda as part of their duties, Pîslaru noted that they had invited Amazon representatives to cooperate since 2021 and requested their participation in committee sessions.

Indicating that Amazon did not attend the sessions on the requested dates, Pîslaru stated that this was a sign of disrespect toward the EP and EU citizens, and that the decision was taken for this reason.
