European Union decides to prepare for war: 'Stockpile 72 hours of food'

EU officials have recommended that the public keep an emergency kit. The strategy document prepared by the Commission aims to raise the level of preparedness against natural disasters, conflicts, and geopolitical tensions. Officials stated that minimum standards will be set to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of essential services.

Under the new plan, it was decided to establish an EU Crisis Center. This center will provide coordination between existing crisis management units. Joint exercises between military and civilian units will be made mandatory. According to the plan, changes will also be made to the education system. The Commission announced that disaster awareness lessons will be added to school curricula and an 'annual preparedness day' will be launched for drill purposes.

Officials stated that risk assessment mechanisms will be strengthened. In this context, it was reported that emergency protocols will be prepared for businesses. It was emphasized that these protocols aim to guarantee the uninterrupted supply of essential materials. People living in EU countries were advised to stockpile at least 72 hours' worth of food supplies.

The Commission underscored that all these measures will increase Europe's resilience against crises. It was announced that work has begun for the implementation of these practices by member states as soon as possible.
