An explosion at the Valero oil refinery located in the city of Port Arthur, Texas, in the United States, has caused panic. It was reported that a fire broke out at the facility following the powerful explosion, the cause of which has not yet been determined.
While numerous fire and emergency response teams were dispatched to the region upon notification, authorities announced that efforts to bring the incident under control are ongoing. Port Arthur Fire Department spokesperson Antonio Mitchell confirmed that an accident occurred at the facility but stated that there is no comprehensive information yet regarding the details of the incident.
Sheriff Zena Stephens stated that, according to initial findings, the explosion may have been caused by an industrial heater. Stephens also reported that no loss of life or injuries have been recorded so far.
Authorities have issued a warning for residents living in the western part of the refinery to stay in their homes as a precautionary measure, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
