Explosion in southern Lebanon: Israeli army announces 2 soldiers wounded

The Israeli army reported that 2 of its soldiers were lightly wounded in an explosion that occurred during the passage of an engineering vehicle in southern Lebanon.

In a statement, the army indicated that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device that it claims was planted on the road by Hezbollah. It was noted that the 2 soldiers in the vehicle were taken to the hospital and are in good condition.

The Israeli army announced that following the explosion, it carried out airstrikes on several facilities in southern Lebanon that it claims belong to Hezbollah.

Lebanon's official news agency, NNA, announced that Israeli warplanes targeted the Old Square neighborhood in Upper Nabatieh twice. The agency reported that an ambulance team heading to the area after the strikes was also targeted by a third airstrike, but the team escaped the attack unharmed.

Tensions in the region persist despite the ceasefire and the framework agreement signed later. The Israeli army launched intense airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2 and occupied many towns in the south of the country.

The Lebanese government had announced that the number of displaced people in the country due to the attacks exceeded 1 million. The Lebanese Ministry of Health also reported that at least 4,386 people have lost their lives in the attacks carried out by Israel since March 2.

While the ceasefire that went into effect between Lebanon and Israel on April 17 has been extended several times, a framework agreement was signed between the parties on June 26 following the fifth round of direct negotiations held in Washington.
