Financial blow from Switzerland to Maduro: All assets seized

Following the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro by US forces in Caracas, a scandalous move has come from the Swiss government. In a statement made by the Swiss Federal Council on Monday, it was reported that a decision was made to immediately freeze all financial assets in Switzerland belonging to individuals acting in concert with Maduro.

It was stated that this new measure is intended to prevent the outflow of funds that are suspected to have been acquired through illegal means. The decision was taken as an additional measure to the Venezuela sanctions that have been in place since 2018.

In the statement made by the Federal Council, the following words were included: "The Federal Council wishes to guarantee that assets that may have been obtained through illegal means are not moved out of Switzerland in the current uncertain environment."

It was stated that within the scope of this decision, which will remain in effect for four years, the relevant accounts will be subjected to a comprehensive review, and funds found to be illegal will be returned to be used for the benefit of the Venezuelan people. Officials underscored that these measures taken are not directed at the current members of the Venezuelan government.

The Federal Council also emphasized that this sanction was implemented as a "precautionary measure" regarding Maduro and associated individuals, who are evaluated under the category of "foreign persons with political influence." Following the decision, a call for common sense was made to all parties against the increase in tension in Venezuela.

On the other hand, no official information has yet been shared with the public regarding how much financial wealth Maduro and his associates hold in Switzerland.
