Financial contribution of EURO 2024 to Germany revealed
UEFA has announced that the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024), held in Germany, generated an economic contribution of 7.4 billion euros to the host country's economy.
According to the Nielsen Sports report cited in the statement from UEFA, the economic contribution of EURO 2024 to Germany and the 10 host cities reached 7.4 billion euros. More than 90 percent of this amount is the direct result of spending by 2.7 million ticket holders (44 percent from abroad), organizers, and accredited persons, as well as the resulting indirect and induced economic effects.
The most significant expenditures include accommodation; travel to and within host cities; and food and beverages both inside and outside the stadiums.
According to the study, nearly two-thirds of ticket holders also used public transport within the host cities.
Thanks to their presence and visibility in global media, a total advertising value of 571 million euros was generated for the host cities and the host country.
While 2.7 million spectators attended the 51 matches played at EURO 2024, 1.7 million were unique ticket holders who attended at least one match.
23 percent of ticket holders came from the host cities, 33 percent from the rest of Germany, and 44 percent from abroad.
