A fire, reportedly caused by a malfunction in the air conditioning system, has led to a tragedy at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

According to the local broadcaster Geo TV, at least 15 newborn babies lost their lives in the fire that broke out in the hospital's gynecology ward.

It was stated that there were 16 newborn babies in the ward at the time of the fire, and only one of the babies was rescued. It was noted that the fire at the hospital began approximately two hours ago and cooling efforts are ongoing.

Following the incident, an investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire and whether there was any negligence.
