First statement from Ankara following US attack on Iran

The US strike on Iran during the night has caused tensions in the region to reach their highest level. In a statement issued by Ankara following the strike on Iran, it was stated, "We do not want this disaster scenario to come to pass."

The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is as follows:

As Turkey, we have drawn attention on every occasion to the risk of the conflict that began with Israeli aggression in the region spreading and the security environment becoming destabilized. The attack carried out by the US today (June 22) on Iran's nuclear facilities has brought this risk to the highest level.

Turkey is deeply concerned about the potential consequences of the US attack on the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The developments currently taking place could lead to the regional conflict being carried to a global level. We do not want this disaster scenario to come to pass.

We invite all relevant parties to act responsibly, to mutually cease attacks as of this moment, and to refrain from steps that could lead to further loss of life and destruction.

The only solution to the dispute regarding Iran's nuclear program lies in negotiations. We call on the international community to support efforts to find a diplomatic solution between the parties.

Turkey is ready to fulfill its responsibility and offer constructive contributions.
