First statement from the US regarding developments in Syria

The 53-year-old Assad regime in Syria has come to an end. Opposition forces have taken control of the Syrian capital, Damascus. A statement regarding the developments has also come from the United States. In the statement made by the White House 

Armed groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Syria captured Damascus today as a result of the attacks they have been carrying out against the Assad administration since November 27.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that Syrian army forces have abandoned Damascus International Airport.

According to Reuters, the Syrian Army Command has informed its officers that the Assad administration has fallen.

With the entry of HTS into Damascus, the Assad administration in Syria has completely collapsed. Reuters reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has left Damascus and moved to an unknown location.
