Speaking to The Times of Israel, an unnamed high-level Israeli official said that the Israeli National Security Council is campaigning to prevent a possible arrest warrant.

The Israeli official underscored that the main element forming the basis for a potential ICC arrest warrant would be Israel's "deliberate starvation of Palestinians in Gaza," and confirmed claims that the US is also making diplomatic efforts to prevent a possible arrest warrant.

While reports of growing concern within the Tel Aviv administration regarding a potential ICC decision on crimes committed by the Israeli army in Gaza have been reflected in the Israeli press, it was recalled that an "emergency meeting" was held at the Israeli Prime Minister's Office last week.

Another Israeli diplomat speaking to The Times of Israel stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also involved in these efforts, saying, "We are operating wherever possible."

Israeli military analyst Amos Harel reported in his article in Haaretz that the Tel Aviv administration is operating under the assumption that ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan could issue arrest warrants this week for Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi.

The fact that Israeli military spokesperson Nadav Shoshani gave a briefing on Saturday (Shabbat)—a day considered holy by Jews, which is an official holiday and a day when Jews do not work—regarding the construction of a floating pier on the Gaza coast by Israel, is noteworthy among the efforts to prevent a possible ICC decision.

Israeli journalist and political analyst Ben Caspit, in an article he wrote for the "Walla" website, reported that Prime Minister Netanyahu is conducting intense telephone traffic to prevent the arrest warrant, and is "relentlessly pressuring" leaders, primarily US President Joe Biden, by phone.

Caspit also noted that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is "unusually tense" regarding the possibility of an arrest warrant being issued against him by the ICC.

Netanyahu's "tension" regarding a possible decision was also reflected in the Israeli newspaper Maariv. The newspaper reported that Netanyahu was "unnaturally fearful and tense" due to the possibility of an arrest warrant being issued by the ICC in The Hague.

The Israeli diplomat argued that the ICC would not be able to take action against Prime Minister Netanyahu and high-level Israeli military officials without the explicit or tactical support of the US.
