Flood disaster in Spain: Many people have lost their lives

A flood disaster occurred in Spain following heavy rainfall. It has been announced that the death toll in Valencia has risen to 63 as a result of floods and inundations caused by the rain, which affected many different cities.

Carlos Mazon, the president of the regional government of Valencia in eastern Spain, stated that there were fatalities in some districts as a result of the floods and inundations.

"Lifeless bodies have been found in some accessible locations, and more bodies continue to be found. Out of respect for the families, we will not provide further information," said Mazon, announcing that the region is experiencing the greatest disaster caused by heavy rainfall since 1996.

The Civil Protection Agency announced that agricultural lands were damaged, numerous vehicles were swept away by floodwaters, and some roads and bridges collapsed due to record-breaking rainfall in the cities of Valencia, Murcia, Malaga, Tarragona, Mallorca, and Almeria.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez shared on his social media account: "I am following the information regarding missing persons and the damage caused by the heavy rain and storm in the last few hours closely and with concern. All emergency services, civil protection, the military emergency response unit, police, and civil guards are operating in the region. Let us be very careful in the face of the storm and avoid unnecessary travel."

The statement issued by the Royal Palace noted the following:

"We are following the devastating consequences of the heavy rain and storm in Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia, Andalusia, and other regions of Spain with great concern. Our sincerest wish is for our missing citizens to be found and rescued as soon as possible. We stand in solidarity with the thousands of our people affected by this disaster. We thank all emergency services, firefighters, local police, armed forces, national police, and civil guards for their commendable work under such difficult conditions."
