Foreign Ministry welcomes lifting of arms embargo
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it welcomes the United Nations (UN) Security Council's decision to lift the arms embargo on Somalia.
In a written statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated: "We welcome the decision taken at yesterday's United Nations Security Council session, which lifts the arms embargo that has been in effect against Somalia since 1992.
We hope that this historic decision will mark the beginning of a period in which peace, prosperity, and strong hopes for the future will flourish in Somalia.
As it has always done, Turkey will continue to stand by the Somali people and support Somalia in this new era," the statement read.
